@jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

take the given slope and flip the fraction and flip the sign to get the perpendicular slope

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

example: given slope: 2 = 2/1 flip fraction: 2/1 ---> 1/2 flip sign: 1/2 ----> -1/2 If the given slope is 2, then the perpendicular slope is -1/2 This is just an example and not the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay -1/9 is given slope, flip it becomes 9/-1 then flip the sign it becomes -9/1? @jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

then you flip the sign as well

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

negative 9/1 ---> positive 9/1 = 9

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the slope of the red line is 9

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

by "flipping the sign", I mean you change from positive to negative or vice versa
