will fan. can someone tell me some pros for helping the homeless

You'll be helping someone who needs it most. You'll feel good about helping others.

there are tons of pros for helping the homeless but u need to make sure that your doing it properly. The reasons being is one fakes, two druggies, and three you need to protect yourself. the majority of homeless people have some sort of mental illness. You dont know there story, and although they could be a good person in need for help they could also be dangerous. How you can help someone whose homeless is being helping shelters. Also donating your clothes and food. These are tons of things that will help them while keeping you safe. Just dont do it alone. Dont give the person money because they may spend it on beer. Dont give them a cheeseburger because the nation has ways pf feediing them like food stamps, and soup kitchens. Instead work for a program that benefits everyone like helping them find a job or a mental hospital designed for some of these people. maybe a rehab clinic. Theres a lot of safe ways to help. Also by helping in these ways your also helping yourself. Things like this can be put on volunteer apps, job apps, college apps. Not only are you helping people and making you feel good but its make you look good.

@ispike Actually most homeless people don't have mental illnesses, but they just can't get a job or don't earn enough money to keep a home. The majority of people with mental illnesses get help for it so they can have a better quality of life. You also have to evaluate each situation individually, because not every homeless person is going to use money for things like alcohol and drugs. And they cannot always get food stamps or food from soup kitchens, so giving food to the homeless really isn't a bad thing. I know someone with personal experience of this that couldn't always get food from soup kitchens. You also have to have a home address to get food stamps, so people who are really homeless can't get them. But it's really great that you still show concern for these people.

Also, to answer the question, there's a lot of pros for helping the homeless. Firstly, you're helping someone that most likely doesn't have control over what's happened to them. If you put yourself in their shoes, you know you would hate to have no home, no food, no clean clothes, and you would hate it even more if nobody helped you. It can also help you out when you're trying to get into a good high school, college, or get a good job. When you do volunteer work to help the homeless, your future employers will see what a hardworking and dedicated person you are and will be more likely to hire you. So you're helping others and at the same time helping yourself.

What are the cons?!?!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@96Neko 38% report alcohol use problems 26% report other drug use problems 39% report some form of mental health problems (20-25% meet criteria for serious mental illness) 66% report either substance use and/or mental health problems 3% report having HIV/AIDS 26% report acute health problems other than HIV/AIDS such as tuberculosis, pneumonia, or sexually transmitted diseases 46% report chronic health conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or cancer Yea not all of them have reported with drug abuse or mental health problems but a lot of them have. Also many people with mental illnesses refuse to get the help and you cant help them or put them in a hospital unless they give consent or there endangering people around. Believe it or not mental hospitals are very difficult to get into unless you admit yourself, which most people dont. (Mental Hospitals is something I personally know a lot about.) And as for people who drink and do drugs i agree that not everyone is like that but a lot of people are. Thats why you dont give money because you dont know there story. Some of them are good people who just cant get up i agree. However with this post i think that if someone was really interested in homeless people then they could form a program for homeless people so that no one is left out. Also with handing them a burger or something isnt bad if youre comfortable with that. But me I get very paranoid and its kind of just a stranger danger thing
