Section 2 (applications) Problem Set 3 question 2A-1, "Find the linearization of (...), by using (2), (...)" Where is (2) ? I cannot find this formula.

Good question. If you are doing "self-study" version 18.01SC, the original material comes from http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/mathematics/18-01-single-variable-calculus-fall-2006/index.htm I think the question is referencing some "notes" from the original version. i.e., see the notes for Approximations (a pdf file) at http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/mathematics/18-01-single-variable-calculus-fall-2006/readings/course-reader/ the specific formula they appear to be referencing is \[(2) \ f(x) \approx f(a) + f'(a) (x-a) \]

Thank you that's great!
