Of 6000 apples harvested, every third apple was too small, every fourth apple was too green, and every tenth apple was bruised. The remaining apples were perfect. How many perfect apples were harvested?

OpenStudy (shinalcantara):

If every third was too small, every forth was too green, and every tenth was bruised, then the 1st,2nd,5th,6th,7th,8th and 9th are perfect(7 of them were perfect). --------------------------------- To get the number of perfect apples that were harvested, first we have to divide 6,000 by 10 -------------------------------- 6,000/10 = 600 -------------------------------- Knowing that for every ten apples, there are 7 perfect ones, then you just have to multiply 7 and 600 -------------------------------- 600 x 7 = 4,200 -------------------------------- Therefore 4,200 of those were perfect apples

OpenStudy (shinalcantara):

It can also be taken that since 7 out of 10 apples are perfect, then the perfect apples for the entire harvest is just, 70% of 6000 ------------------------------- 0.70 x 6000 = 4,200 apples
