"self-esteem does not come from external sources like people telling kids that they're great or that their artwork is great etc. everyone likes a compliment, but self-esteem has been proven to come from within. specifically, being competent at things, being able to do things. some people say that our culture has become too much about 'praising' kids - what do you think? and that we give too many medals and awards and certificates, etc. (external) things. . .
