Compare and contrast U.S. attitudes and actions toward the Native Americans and U.S. actions in foreign affairs.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Native Americans did not trade land. The took land in as a source of life. They had many clashes with the Europeans who believed in private ownership of land. Land is life. It is to be respected; not owned. If we take care of the land and the animals that live upon it then the land and the animals will take care of us. Land is not something that is to be "owned" by anyone, but is to be respected and enjoyed by everyone. It is sacred to many tribes for many reasons in many different places, and that in and of itself should be respected. What is taken is given back, and spirituality was involved with any disturbance of land/nature. Nothing is wasted, everything is used in honor of the land which is so gracious to the humans who tread upon it.
