Can anyone suggest a good book for C programming? (I'm going to start with C only after I complete the OCW 6.00 course on python so it can be assumed that I will have a basic understanding of programming before starting off with C)
There are a number of free ones you can get: http://www.onlineprogrammingbooks.com/c/ One of the nice things is that by looking at free books, you can either find something great or realize you want something better/different. Either way, you just spend a little time rather than money at the start. Also, if you decide on finding another book, look for ones with a free chapter or parts online. That way you can get an idea of the organization of the book before you invest in it. I got a well reviewed book once but it was done in an interview format and it was terrible! Most "cookbook" books you can skip until you know a bit more. They are generally incomplete code bits that cover highly specialize needs. Their goal is to cover issues a lot of people regularly code for. By mixing bits and pieces you can solve larger problems.
I would suggest trying this source: freecomputerbooks.com You'll find a section on C there as well...
