The car show sold the same number of general admission tickets as student discount tickets. The student tickets cost $6.00 less than the general admission tickets. The total amount of money collected for student tickets was $1800 and for general admission tickets, $3000. What was the price of a general admission ticket?
# of tickets =y the price for general =x the price for student=x-6 y*(x-6)=1800 y*(x)=3000 ---->y=3000/x put the value of y into the first one (3000/x)(x-6)=1800 3000-18000/x=1800 -18000/x=1800-3000=-1200 x=-18000/-1200=15
students price =15-6=9
