Women in Black is an international peace network. It is not an official organization, but it is a way for individual women to participate in civic affairs. It was started in Israel in 1988. Usually, women dress in black and stand together in silent vigils to protest injustice. There are Women in Black groups in Italy, Spain, Germany, England, Azerbaijan, Colombia, and the United States.
