As you know, a regular hexagon is made of 6 equal equilateral triangles. If you can find the area of one triangle, you will know the area of the whole hexagon. Notice that the apothem of the hexagon is also the height of the equilateral triangle. The height is related to the side by the formula \(h=\frac{\sqrt3}{2}a\). Now we know the height and the base; we can easily calculate the area of the triangle. Multiply that area by 6, you will get the area of the hexagon
