Nope. You can change the email turn off the notifications, and stop using it. Some sort of one shot disable button has been suggested, but due to how things like smart score work, doing a delete is not easy.

I have an idea. OpenStudy could create a user called @DeletedAcccounts or whatever they like. A person could b given the option of purposefully deleting the account and transferring all questions, medals, and other things to @DeletedAccounts .

@TheSmartOne how would that mess up someones SS? What if someone is somehow being tacked down on Open Study and they need to get rid of the account ASAP? I definitely agree that there should be a delete account button in your account settings!

Tracking is non-issue. All the information on the profile pages are settings. So you can remove it all. Nothing to track. As I said, you can change the email address and turn off the notifications. Presto, nothing to track and you get nothing when it is messaged, etc. Account is effectively gone at that point.

As for the smart score, it is a relative system and how well people do relates to who they have helped and what responses it generated.

I think that the first update for Open Study should be to put a delete button in your account settings. If people don't want to do this such as Moderators, I suggest putting a poll out asking whether or not the Open Study "community" should update the OS with a Delete Account. Post it in the home page for Open Study, and the poll with the most votes wins...simple.

Yes I did...but I still think that we should put up a poll for all the users on the OS to vote and then we can go off of that.

@SoccerChick101 It is not a matter of want. We simply can't and as the database is structured it will not change. To add an actual delete would require a database reformat, which is like completely changing the map for a city. You would have to tear up every house, then you could lay down the new street system, then rebuild the houses.

The closest they could develop easily is a disable button. All it would do is remove user selectable settings, disable notifications, and randomize the password. People can already do this without a button so I do not see it as a high demand project.

Understandable....but I think that the more users that Open Study has, the harder the monitoring of the OS will be. Sometimes it is absolutely necessary to remap a city and that might be the case for this.

No need to remap the beautiful city of OpenStudy. We can't destroy the city because of 1 bad neighbor. Bad nieghbors are allowed to move out. They should not wreck our city as they leave.
