Personal liberties were among the key ideas of the American Revolution. Given this fact, why did slavery continue after the American Revolution? A. The Southern plantation economy depended on slavery. B. British, Loyalists, and Patriots all agreed that liberty did not extend to slaves. C. The colonial government encouraged manumission. D. Slave labor was important to the New England economy.

Okay, lets see what makes the most sense. Person liberties were thought to extend to everybody (just getting that out of the way) The colonial government had many different views on it Now, did plantation owners do everything themselves? Were slaves needed in the New England colonies to do things?
