OpenStudy (freckles):

what is Rs

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

currency -> rupees

OpenStudy (freckles):

So the price is 250 for ticket x is the number of ticket purchases so 250x is the the total amount for sales -- so 250 was lowered by some amount <--this is the deduction cost we are looking for so that new cost per ticket is (250-m) where I'm letting m be the the deduction...

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

ok

OpenStudy (freckles):

the number of tickets sold will be .5 percent more So we have (1+.5)x(250-m) there is also a .175 decrease 1.5x(250-m)=(1-.175)(250x) There is two variables there and we only care about that m

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

thnx very much

OpenStudy (freckles):

oh yeah x doesn't equal 0 go ahead and divide both sides by x

OpenStudy (freckles):

now you just have an equation in terms of m the answer you seek

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

yes its \(\bf 112.5\)

OpenStudy (freckles):

\[1.5(250-m)=(1-.175)(250)\]
