@TheGamer - 'hydroxide' is not an element Thechemical formula shows you the atoms present: Na O H If you don't know which elements these letters represent then look it up on the Periodic table of elements

Also note that all elements are represented by 1 or 2 letters for their symbol BUT if there are 2 letters then they are always written with the first as capital letter and the second as lower-case. SO you can see that in the above compound Na cannot be Nitrogen and something else because the a is lower case. (there is NO element with symbol A btw)
