Q1. Why did Thomas Jefferson oppose a large federal government?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Jefferson, like all the founding fathers, had a fear of government power because of the colonists' experiences with the king and British crown. He believed that power should remain at the local level and with the people. He believed that a strong federal government would get too powerful and take away the rights of the people.
