JoelTheBoss (joel_the_boss):

What is food energy in the form of glucose? @Abhisar

JoelTheBoss (joel_the_boss):

I have no idea :/

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Glucose is a carbohydrate and these are the substances which get oxidised by the mitochondria. This oxidation yeilds energy which is used by our body.

JoelTheBoss (joel_the_boss):

OH! Thanks. My friend said something similar but he worded it wrong. Then he gave me an example, and said high fructose corn syrup.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

That's correct, almost every food item that tastes sweet has carb in it. Carbs are of many types, one of which is fructose and other is glucose. A more common example of glucose is the energy/glucose drinks.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

@Joel_the_boss

OpenStudy (abhisar):

PS: Carb = carbohydrate.

JoelTheBoss (joel_the_boss):

Ok, see that makes sense. Thanks a lot. Now hopefully this class will be easier. :)

OpenStudy (abhisar):

No prob :)
