@hugsnotoughs i need help with the last bit that;s not filled out, i dont where i should take the prompt from there :) Writing Prompt: How have these two authors expressed their relationships with nature? After reading and analyzing "The Calypso Borealis," an essay by John Muir, and William Wordsworth's poem, "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud," write an essay in which you describe how each author views nature and answer the question. Support your discussion with evidence from the text. I. Hook: William Wordworth and John Muir were two lonely men. Both artists strongly loved nature and were connected to it but were also both depressed. Nature brought them both happiness and through their writings, you can tell it took away their depressive state. A. Bridge: John and William described in their writings how the beauty of nature both cleared and healed their minds. The thoughts and memories of the nature they saw brought a state of peace and tranquility to their minds, therefore healing the pool of depression that had invaded their minds B. Thesis: William Wordsworth and John Miller not only share their relationship with nature through their vocabulary, dictation, and syntax but through the impact of mood, and tone as well, and while both authors express their relationship in different ways they both still have a major impact on the audience that’s reading. II. Topic Sentence: A. Example, Reason, Detail, or Fact from the text: B. Explanation: C. Example, Reason, Detail, or Fact from the text: D. Explanation: III. Topic Sentence: A. Okay. So you need help with the next two paragraphs? c:
yes please :)
Okay, so this is a compare and contrast essay. And since there are three body essays (right?), the first on should be about one author, the second about the other author, and the third one about both and why they are alike/different. Agree?
ohhh, yes! that makes sense. but im a little confused with how to fit it into the format they want (the letters and all) im still not used to flvs lol
@hugsnotughs ???
Oh, okay. Are you new to virtual school? The way they are showing you to do essays here is the same way you would do it anywhere else, this is the outline, and it's actually very helpful. I use it myself. So, let's see: Paragraph 1: How John Muir views nature Paragraph 2: How William Wordsworth views nature Paragraph 3: Compare and Contrast their views Conclusion: Kind of re-word the intorduction, restate the thesis and tell whether they are same or different. That outline actually looks a bit confusing, I go to FLVS too, I'll see if I can find one. :P
