We need to revise the Code of Conduct...
If people don't like OS they should just leave.
And also that just posting the work and answer is also considered as a direct answer.
Because all that the CoC says about this is Don’t post only answers - guide the asker to a solution. So you can just post all the steps and you are ok?
So what are you trying to say.
@TheSmartOne
By giving them the steps and the answer are we complying with this Don't provide someone with just the answer - explain the process, and help guide them through understanding the problem. They are not going to understand it if they get the steps and answer..
@TheSmartOne No, you cannot, I had a long discussion with a lot of Moderators. And yes, I did point out that the Code of Conduct says to 'not JUST give the answer'.
We already discussed this and IT IS AGAINST THE CODE OF CONDUCT TO USE STEPS AND STILL GIVE THE ANSWER.
And mods suspend/warn if we even explain...
explain meaning just giving steps and showing what to do to arrive at the answer..
I was just reading the CoC again and I came to realize this issue..
Yeah I remember that post @iGreen
Then why are you making a new one?
Because he did not know about your post.
It needs to be constantly reminded to mods and @Preetha and that ^^
Giving out the steps and then the answer at the end is the exact same as giving out the answer, but explaining each step and letting the user solve their problem with our help is not giving out answers
Like this is showing steps and giving answer Asker : solve x + 6 = 9 Other User : x + 6 = 9 x + 6 - 6 = 9 - 6 x + 0 = 9 - 6 x = 3
No point in showing the steps if the Asker is just going to grab that answer
what was the thing I would tell people? oh here: "a note for future reference as a fellow helper: sometimes it's best to simply give an explanation and let the person try to find the answer themselves, otherwise they could simply glance at your comment, find the answer they were looking for, thank you, and not even read the explanation you worked so hard to type out :)" sure the CoC doesn't say it directly, but to get someone to do what you want. like not giving the fulls steps and answer, would be to just ask them nicely for now
@*louisa* you need to read this you just give people answers
So who gives a crap @TheAsker2002
they dont want anyone to do it so this whole post @*louisa*
Idc stop tagging me in this s.hit
and now your cussing...
your doing ti things you should not in c.o.c
Leave me alone .-.
We have some more important problems then revising the code which is fine (for now at least).
Really. You are trying to bypass the filters. @*louisa* @amistre64 told me that people are not allowed to do that.
Question marks instead of some symbols The posting button that is hiding, (with a temporary solution of Tab+Enter) The disconnections ("Oh Snap!") well these are on my mind, but many people can for sure list more and more problems,
And yes, bypassing the filters is inappropriate, because they are (obviously) for a reason.
I have to go, bye:)
yes well not all of user follow coc even some 99 user they give explanation but at the end answer too so mostly they don't care about explanation and just grab the answer but i think we should explain and let them solve the problem its ok if they'll make mistake but i'm pretty sure that's mistake gonna remind them to do right process :)
^^ ikr
@Preetha ... Any thoughts?
for some reason I have a feeling @e.mccormick would have more to say about this topic
I can tell you almost word for word what Preetha would say. Yes, doing all the work in a detailed answer is not good. However, this is a learning opportunity. It is a chance for you to work with the person that is answering too much. Help them see how letting the asker do some of the work is a teaching tool. Also, if we suspended every person that gave answers, even detailed ones, then we would have no users at all. How do I know? Cause she sent something pretty close to that in an email when I complained about a very particular user that gives out a ton of detailed answers.
OS filter does not allow the word wingspan. I said unp.rickly and it didn't allow it. It doesn't allow that word, but it cannot find curses with periods in between.
Yes, and there are names that get messed up too. They need a white list before the bad word list.
oops the wingspan is supposed to be p.Rick
Just stop @GreenCat ...
@abhisar so you start using your power haaan
Yes he has.. lol
i was about to give him/her informational answer but... 0.o
@Nnesha I told him that I would be honored if he gave me the first suspension. So he gave me a 1 minute suspension.
jk..
one minute ???? :P
I was kidding...
I probably would be honored lol
@TheSmartOne you need to earn it :P
:D
Why don't we objectively look at the rules, one-by-one, and decide what our problem(s) is/are?
btw @Nnesha If you were talking about me, I'm a boy.
Also, what should I stop? @TheSmartOne
I seriously don't know. If I spammed without knowing, plz tell me. ;~;
Your "this word becomes this" It doesn't work lol
ohh no @greencat i was not talking about you thats other person
"oops the wingspan is supposed to be p.Rick" ^ the "wingspan" was purposeful. >:D
I always say purposeful... I meant intentional.
Well, I did not mean that one. I was talking about the signers of out constitution. There are also Japanese mushrooms you can't properly post about on here. In the annoying things people do list: multiple choice. Sadly, a huge volume of these are test questions and there is no easy way to tell which are or are not. Many schools subscribe to the same exact test banks so a homework question at one place can be a test question at another. Also, the really lazy ones use the same bank for both homework and tests! So the same questions pop up on both for multiple reasons. People could do their own work they learned concepts and examples.
word *if* they... that is.
