x-2/x+4=x-6/x-4

Directrix (directrix):

Is the problem supposed to be this? @cutegirl (x-2) / (x+4) =(x-6) / (x-4)

Directrix (directrix):

If so, use the Means-Extremes Property to get (x-2)*(x-4) = (x + 4)*(x - 6) Crank that out and solve for x. Post what you get, okay?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so x-8=x-2? @Directrix

Directrix (directrix):

Solve this x-8=x-2 for x and post what you get. Then, we'll check. Okay? @cutegirl

Directrix (directrix):

I think you lost the middle terms when you multiplied the two binomials. (x-2)*(x-4) = (x + 4)*(x - 6) x^2 - 6x + 8 = x^2 -2x -24 The x^2 terms subtract off so what is the value of x that makes this true: -6x + 8 = -2x - 24 @cutegirl

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=8

Directrix (directrix):

Correct @CuteGirl903k
