OpenStudy (anonymous):

can someone please explain to me why i got kicked out of a subject? i wasnt doing anything wrong (giving out answers or anything) guaranteed i was trying to explain that this site was for people to help and not just give answers when i could have said it a little nicer, but i dont think that was any reason for me to get kicked...

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Were you giving out direct answers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

What exactly were you doing.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Were you kicked out of it or suspended.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

@kah.x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kicked

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean i could just hit okay and go back in but i want to know why i got more or less kicked out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for no apparent reason

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Maybe you were being rude. What exactly did you say before being kicked.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not gonna lie, i did say a few choice words that i am not proud of to someone just looking for direct answers when he knew how to solve the problem himself and was just being lazy, but i mean does he have the power to kick me or did a mod do it or what

OpenStudy (anonymous):

he wasnt a mod or have any other title

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

A mod has the power to do it. Was there any mods on the post.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Give me the link to the post.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Never mind.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

It could expose the user.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

And I am not planning to expose the user.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Only a mod can kick a person out of hte subject...

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

But I doubt the mods would really use that.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Were you warned or kicked because you said you pressed an ok button.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean, i said some pretty harsh things too that i know i shouldnt have said, but i guess i dont understand why i got kicked when i was helping other people and basically telling him to stop being lazy and do his own work when he knows how. he was saying some pretty rude things there too and he wasnt kicked

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was warned once for "spamming" which is absurd because i was only replying once every time he said something. and then a little later i got kicked out of the subject

OpenStudy (emmamink):

I was suspended for an hour

OpenStudy (emmamink):

i was warned for spamming too

sammixboo (sammixboo):

The mods are able to kick you out of a subject due to behavior in the chats as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@confluxepic looks like you found it lol

OpenStudy (emmamink):

ya I know now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im never in the chat things, they just annoy me honestly

OpenStudy (emmamink):

confluxepic, remember me? EmmaMInk

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Say you were spamming, being rude, or being inappropriate in the Math chat. The mods can kick you out of the math subject so you are not in that chat

OpenStudy (emmamink):

I wrote you a testimonial!

OpenStudy (emmamink):

I was asking for bf and others were hitting on me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@sammixboo but i wasnt spamming, i wasnt even in the chat

sammixboo (sammixboo):

I am going to look through your questions answered to see if I see anything wrong :) Be right back

sammixboo (sammixboo):

What subject were you kicked from?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

math

OpenStudy (abhisar):

@kah.x First off all you spammed someone other's question using innapropriate language. Then you were issued a warning. Instead of holding down you continued to spam the post in similar manner.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the second one i explained, the third one i said i had just entered it into a calculator like you would in math class, the last one you cant really explain, and the first one i also explained

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Abhisar was i using some innapropriate words? yes. was i spamming? no. i was having a conversation (ok, maybe an argument) but how is that spamming??

OpenStudy (abhisar):

This was one of your many replies On Fri Nov 21 21:57:54 UTC 2014, user reported this reply: SO WHY COULDNT YOU HAVE DONE THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE INSTEAD OF BEING A LAZY A*S AND TRYING TO GET SOMEONE ELSE TO DO YOUR DAMN WORK FOR THEM

sammixboo (sammixboo):

The CoC states Don't spam! Common forms of spam include: Posting a question multiple times within a short period of time. Posting a question that is off topic for a particular group (i.e. posting a physics question in the Mathematics group). Posting a reply that is not relevant to the topic of discussion within that question. Posting questions that are not, in fact, questions (for example, starting a question in the Mathematics group to wish someone "Happy Birthday"). Sending the same chat message repeatedly. Filing false abuse reports on a user repeatedly.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Abhisar why yes that was one of my replies. if youre trying to embaress me for my choice of words, its not going to work. i already said i know i shouldnt have said those but how does that equal spamming??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if i got kicked because of "spamming" when i never did, then im not sure i like the mods abusing their power

sammixboo (sammixboo):

It says Posting a reply that is not relevant to the topic of discussion within that question. I believe that arguments (from what I heard_ is NOT relevant to the topic of discussion within that question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that reply was very relevant to other replies, maybe not the question but it was a reply to another reply

OpenStudy (abhisar):

@kah.x You started posting irrelevant arguments on other's question. That place is not for engaging in a random argument. Posting replies that are not relevant to the question is qualified as spamming. You think your reply look like mathematics ? Second, you used foul language for which you got warned. You should have stopped there but you continued to post similar replies. Your replies got reported by the question asker himself. I could have suspended you then for multiple offence but i decided to just kick you. I did that to bring things under control. Look at code of conduct of openstudy

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Mods are not you enemies, they are to help you only. If i have not intervened then you may have got community ban due to multiple user reports.

sammixboo (sammixboo):

http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know what the code of conduct is, im not stupid. just because im not a mod doesnt make me any less than you or give you the right to talk down to me. i know i was using the wrong type of language, but just because he goes crying and i dont means that i get kicked when hes the one asking for direct answers that he knows how to solve himself? its absurd that my trying to explain the use of this site like you are trying to do to me right now is considered spamming because i used some foul language. i got frustrated with him and i said some things i shouldnt have. but why does that mean you need to abuse your power and kick me because you dont like how i phrase things. i could have reported him too, he was using the same language as i was and saying just as much crap as i was, but i didnt decide to cry about it. if you want to kick me for trying to tell him the purpose of this site and HIM getting whiny about it so i got mad, go right ahead. if thats how you guys handle things around here then im not sure i really like this site anyways. whats so wrong with, i dont know, messaging someone telling them to calm down instead of just kicking them from the site? oh thats right, youre a mod so you get to do whatever you want, right? yeah, no thanks. thats an abuse of power and you know it. ive spent enough of my life around crap like that, i dont need it on a site where i help other people and get kicked because of a few harsh words. just because i dont have a fancy sticker next to my name, doesnt mean i deserve to get treated like a piece of garbage for a few choice words. but hey, if thats how you want to run things around here, fine. im done helping if i just get stabbed in the back by the people that run this site because they get to do whatever they want and treat everyone else like theyre below them. i dont understand how YOU can be okay with that, because thats a lot worse than a few swear words.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ive read the code of conduct before, but i just read it again. no "sexual inuendo or hitting on people"? thats exactly what he was doing when i told him to knock it off but i dont see him getting in trouble. we both went against the code of conduct, and yet IM the one that gets punished. real fair, real fair

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

You can just avoid that user from now on...

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

@kah.x You do not know what punishments he got because he didn't make a post telling everyone about it...

OpenStudy (abhisar):

All those who used foul language got warned and kicked. Kicking is nothing else but temporarily removing you from a group. You can always join back to the group.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@TheSmartOne its not about the user, its about mods taking advantage of their power because my names not in purple

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

yes kicking only lasts for like 5 seconds...

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

People who have a higher SS are expected to act better... Because they have been here longer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i wasnt making a post about him, i was simply asking someone to explain. i wanted to know why i got overly punished for something, i didnt make this thread to complain

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Yes but you don't know what punishments he got...

OpenStudy (abhisar):

You havn't been punished yet. Warning is not a punishment.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

suspension and banning are punishments..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but getting kicked is

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Same applies with kicking. It is just removing you to break the heat of conversation.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

You can rejoin the group wheneva you want.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Also mods and ambis are held to a very high level... If they break any rules they are kicked out and maybe banned from os.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not an ambi or anything tho. and my ss isnt even that high

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

If a person with a 12 SS gives direct answer nothing will happen to him. But if a 90 SS person does, he will get suspended by a mod without a second thought...

OpenStudy (abhisar):

You can raise it by your hard work, which you commit to do.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

It is because the 90 SS person already nows the rules of SS..

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

lol I used 90 because that is the SS I am nearest to.. xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, i didnt understand that kicking was a way to just settle things down, i thought that i was getting mistreated. however, i do think that if you kick someone you should be sending a message to them to explain or it should say something in the little box that comes up. sorry i went after you, i was misinformed about the meaning of getting kicked. i usually dont swear at people, but this dude just set me off. ill try to keep my cool next time lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and now i feel like my dog after she peed on the floor... i guess ill just walk away now with my tail inbetween my legs

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Have a great day... :)

sammixboo (sammixboo):

That's okay :) If someone ever makes you mad here or is trying to start something just walk away and ignore them

OpenStudy (abhisar):

It's ok, at the end any mod does not have any personal issues with any user. he is just trying to make the community better for your use only :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@sammixboo i mean, i know i should, but when someones trying to take advantage of this site it just kind of urks me because there are people on here that legitimately need help and he didnt, just trying to make other people do the work for him

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Yeah I understand :)

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

If you don't like a user because of the way the user is treating you then block the user. If you get suspended or kicked and you think it's unfair then email abuse@openstudy.com. You probably know this already but it is helpful to be reminded.
