The profit earned by selling a quantity of x + 2 of a product is given by the expression x4 − x3 − 24. What is the average profit per unit of product sold?
@aum
All you have to do is divide (x^4 - x^3 - 24) by (x + 2)
If you are going to do synthetic division, remember to put in the coefficient for the missing terms: 1x^4 - 1x^3 + 0x^2 + 0x - 24 divided by (x + 2)
D again looks closest to what i am thinking of...
Try again. remember you are dividing by (x + 2). So in synthetic division you should divide by -2.
okay...i did that part wrong.
i feel like a and e are wrong....also d is. so it's gotta be b, or c...right?
looking again kinda thinking a....
1x^4 - 1x^3 + 0x^2 + 0x - 24 divided by (x + 2): -2 1 -1 0 0 -24 -2 6 -12 24 ------------------ 1 -3 6 -12 0 x^2 - 3x + 6x - 12
it is b.....
ugh. i'm sorry i'm terrible at math
oops, the last line should be: x^3 - 3x^2 + 6x - 12
yeah i figured because everything else matched:)
It is b.
