Write an equation of a line in slope-intercept form that is parallel to the line of the equation y=3x+2 but has a y-intercept of 15. Then its asking y = {Answer}x + {Answer}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would you figure this out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is y = 3x + 15 because to make an equation parallel to another the number multiplied by x (the slope) must be the same in both equations. Also the number added or subtracted is the y-intercept. So you simply keep the same equation but make the y-intercept 15.

I did that but then I got some weird number and I didn't think I was right, I think I got 4.33333 or something

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would that be right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and they are asking for fractions, btw

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if nessasary

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the question isn't asking you to solve the equation, so you wouldn't need to input any answers like 4.33333 etc. you would just write in the equation I gave you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oooh I see ! Thanks ! I didn't read your thingy right the first time. Thanks !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem! *high five to fellow whovian*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)
