Jared is 10 years old and Peter is 15 years old. Together they run 150 yards. How far does each brother run. PLZZ EXPLAIN ANSWER THX ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is there any more information in the problem? The info you gave wouldn't be enough to solve the problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you provide more info on this question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

on the previous question it explains that the run depends on the ratio of their ages for example, a boy who is twice as old as a girl runs twice as far but in this question the ratios are not half of each other so that is where i am confused?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like one of them says crystal is 12 years old and alexa is 6 years old. if crystal runs 100 yards, how far does alexa run? How far do they run a ltogether

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is obviously alexa runs 50 years since crystal runs 100 and crystal is half as more the age of alexa

OpenStudy (anonymous):

soooo.... plzzz help with the previous question

OpenStudy (aripotta):

peter is 1.5 times older than jared, so peter should run 1.5 times further than jared..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh

OpenStudy (aripotta):

so i guess j + 1.5j = 150

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kk

OpenStudy (aripotta):

can you solve it from there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no im in 6 grade lol i started the sixth grade 3 months ago

OpenStudy (aripotta):

so when you combine like terms you get 2.5j = 150 and to get j by itself, divide both sides by 2.5. so j = 60

OpenStudy (aripotta):

jared ran 60 yards and to find how long peter ran just do 150 - 60

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok thats 90

OpenStudy (aripotta):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thx

OpenStudy (aripotta):

can you give me a medal? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure lol

OpenStudy (aripotta):

lol thank you
