Which of the following is an autosomal recessive disease? a. Down syndrome b. diabetes c. polydactyly d. hemophilia

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The reason I pick C is because Polydactyly is where you have 5 fingers or something like that and i saw that its recessive

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Polydactyly is an inherited condition in which a person has extra fingers or toes. It is caused by a \(\bf dominant\) allele of a gene. This means it can be passed on by just one parent if they have the disorder.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Dang it! would it be d?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Never mind its not

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Haemophilia is a sex-linked disease and not autosomal disease.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what does that mean?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Autosomal means it can happen to both males and females but sex linked means it can happen to only a particular sex. Haemophillia occurs in males only. Females are carriers of this disease.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So then its diabetes because i looked it up and it said diabetes is a recessive

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Down Syndrome is neither recessive nor dominant. Yes it's diabetes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YAY :D

THANK YOUUU

OpenStudy (abhisar):
