Hi all, Please help me! My question is on the shield parameter model of Dr. Miedema. At first he defines the drag force based on the real water velocity (Fd=1/2Cd.ro.A.U^2) which makes sense based on basic fluid mechanics. After that he defines the drag force based on friction velocity (U*). I can not understand it. How is it possible physically to replace the real velocity with the friction velocity!!
