OpenStudy (blackbird02):

What is the average kinetic energy of the molecules of a gas (a) at 0 degrees Celsius? (b) at 100 degrees Celsius?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

I think, that the average kinetic energy E of a molecule is given by the subsequent formula: \[E=\frac{ 3 }{ 2 }RT\] where R is the gas constant, namely R=8.31 J/(K*mol) and T is the absolute temperature of your gas. please try to substitute your numerical data in the above formula
