$$1\frac{ 7 }{ 8 } \times 3\frac{ 1 }{ 2 } = \frac{ 15 }{ 8 } \times \frac{ 7 }{ 2 } = \frac{ 105 }{ 16 } = \frac{ 6.5625inches }{ 70 inches } = 0.09375 inches$$

convert fraction  to mixed number
find the equivalent size in inches using 1:70 
find the equivalent size in feet 12 inches = 1 ft 
find the area (length by width)  unit will be ft by ft = square feet
