find f(x)=2x-6 solve f^-1(x) when x=2

OpenStudy (one098):

f^-1(x) means to find the inverse. So f(x)=2x-6. f(x) is y. So now it changes to x=2y-6. You're doing the opposite, so instead of subtracting, add 6 to both sides. x + 6=2y. Multiply both sides by 2, instead of diving. Plug in 2. So now its 2 x 2 +6=y. Can you solve the rest?
