what does CPCTC mean and when do you use it?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Congruent Parts of Congruent Triangles are Congruent

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

That is the meaning of CPCTC. You use it usually in geometry proofs when you need to prove two segments or two angles congruent, and you notice that those two segments of angles are corresponding parts of triangles. Then by proving the triangles congruent, by the definition of congruent triangles the segments or the angles are congruent. That is CPCTC in use.

Thank you very much

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

You are welcome.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

This is an example of a proof that you can use CPCTC to complete. |dw:1416776315543:dw|
