OpenStudy (mathmath333):

@freckles

OpenStudy (loser66):

Let x is the price of the radio, then the cost she has to pay is x+7%x = 2568, solve for x, then take 2568 -x is the reduction in price of radio.

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

by ur process answer is 168 168 is not the answer in book it is given 180 @Loser66

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

the question is modified it has the sentence added "the final value is rounded off to the next higher integer" in the previous question the sentence was not given

OpenStudy (loser66):

oh, I got it. Now, redo

OpenStudy (loser66):

if the cost is 2568, and the tax is 7% of the cost, then the tax is 179.76 = 180 , So, if she doesn't have a deal, she must pay 2568 + 180. But she has a big deal, so that she doesn't have to pay 180 for tax. That is what she get from the reduction.

OpenStudy (loser66):

And the trap is on the question, not the number.
