OpenStudy (beccab003):

Can someone check my answer? It is a quick question. Medal to best answer. Thanks! Elements with 2 or fewer outer electrons that are usually good conductors of heat are called what? metals nonmetals metalloids plasma I think it is metals but the "2 or fewer electrons" makes me confused.

OpenStudy (jfraser):

it's not just "two or fewer electrons", it's "two or fewer \(outer\) electrons". that should tell you everything

OpenStudy (beccab003):

I forgot to add the outer part. I still don't understand that part of the sentence.

OpenStudy (jfraser):

another word for "outer" electrons is "valence" electrons. Does that help?

OpenStudy (beccab003):

no. I don't know what 'valence' means.

OpenStudy (jfraser):

have you learned the Bohr model for filling electrons in levels around the atom?

OpenStudy (beccab003):

Yes, I think so, can you please just tell me if I got the answer correct? If not then I can focus on trying to see which one is right.

OpenStudy (jfraser):

elements with few valence electrons are typically good conductors of heat and electricity. What kind of elements are those? you have it right, it is metals
