Explain the Linnaean system of classification. What has caused changes to this system since the early 1700s?

I think its that new kingdoms were needed that reflected our growing knowledge of the differences between living organisms.

Technology also has allowed us to compare molecular (genetic) evidence, and classify organisms on how similar their genomes are.
