what are the different things you can be (i couldnt think of a better word,) like an ambi, mod, what else is her/ what are the requirements?
I'm not sure if they changed anything, but this is what I know. To be an ambassador, of course, you have to be active. You can't have a bad OS record (suspensions, warnings). And I think to be an ambassador you have to be 13+. When they are looking for ambassadors you fill out the form, and one part of the form is that you have o have a Photo ID. And tbh, I think it could be any form of ID (YMCA card, Student ID, etc..). To be a moderator, you must be over 18 and I think have a clean OS record. Of course, you have to be mature. Something both of these require would be knowing the Code fo Conduct, and knowing how to properly help people in this website. So no giving answers, having a positive attitude, being respectful, and using your tools properly. That's all I know so far.
Moderators and Ambassadors play types of, "enforcement," roles when it comes to OpenStudy. We both follow the Common Code [Coc;TaC]. Ambassadors greet new users and show them around the site. We also help reduce the amount of future rule violations and spread awareness. Ambassadors do some miscellaneous tasks and training by direct order of the Ambassador Council or Preetha. Moderators enforce these transcript more harshly. Unlike Ambassadors, Moderators "moderate," content by deleting, suspending, or removing all-together content. They discuss ways to deal with certain users, future plans to avoid an abuse and other miscellaneous tasks suggested by the team or Preetha. While it doesn't take an Ambassador to follow the rules, welcome users and be an ideal user; it takes a moderator to enforce such.
Actually, your abuse record is only considered within the past six months, unless you have something horrid on your record (like countless acts of profanity).
ahhh, gotcha. thank you both(:
@kah.x You're very welcome. There's also the OSSF I believe, which I don't much about, but I know @Librarian and @Joel_the_boss know about. :)
There is OSSF. Here is the application if you want to join. http://goo.gl/forms/Vs0sVdeizM
@TheSmartOne what is ossf?
Open Study Special Forces. It is to reduce the spamming and trolling on this site.
One question on Photo ID for becoming and ambi, what if you are 14 and you don't have student ID? Would a passport work?
@thesmartone ah, gotcha. how do you apply to be an ambi?
@Kit_Kat_Nat_<3 You would have to take a screenshot of your grades. Or picture of your report card.
Ok, @TheSmartOne .
@kah.x @Kit_Kat_Nat_<3 Here is the link. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/14kZejqKJuYBxuRCxCjwa-rAUtScOYB6KTlrZDmYLTGM/viewform Note: You need to send in id for both OSSF and ambis. Also if you apply to be an ambi, you have to wait for the next batch to join. The latest Ambi batch was like 2 days ago :D But if you apply to OSSF and you meet the requirements, you will be in right away because we need members. You can also join OSSF until you become ambi like me :D
Good to know, @TheSmartOne . Thanks.
No prob.
Nat, passport will work
Ok, @Abhisar . thanks :-)
@TheSmartOne @Abhisar sorry if all my questions are annoying you, but i only have two more :p how often do they chose new ambis/ ossf? and what if you dont have a fb account, can you still be an ambi?
I don't really handle the ambi stuff
OSSF members are choosen right after we review your application which is a few days. Ambis are selected every few months. They will announce the next ambis in Febrauary.
@Abhisar only handles OSSF :D
Ask e.mccormick or any other ambi like jiglypuff
Hi, I was mentioned?
Administrator. There are 8 admin accounts, and not all admins have admin accounts. These are the people that run the site. Need to work for them for this type of account. Moderator. There are about 40 moderator accounts, many are inactive, some are actually Admins. NOTE: Admins look like Mods, so you see about 48 total mods... A mod is chosen by the admins to help moderate (clean up) the content on the site through police work and judging the deeds/misdeeds of other users. Ambassador. There are... heck, I don't know right now... I should, I run the program at the moment... but anyhow. There is a small group of Ambassadors that greet people, help people, and promote the site. Anyone can apply, but you have to have been here a few months without breaking rules or you will not be considered. OSSF. A small group of users that want to help combat trolldom on OS.
There are 22 Ambassadors.
I like all those numbers @e.mccormick
