zepdrix (zepdrix):

Matrix/Linear Algebra: Need help finding Eigenvalues. \[\Large \left[\begin{matrix} 0& 0& -1 \\ 0& 1& 0 \\ 1& 0& 0 \end{matrix}\right]\]

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Doing the normal cofactor expansion method I found the \(\Large\rm \lambda=1\) eigenvalue. But I can't seem the find the other two :( \(\Large\rm \lambda=i,-i\)

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

so I'm getting det(a-rI)=-r[1-r * -r] +[1-r]

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

=-r^3+r^2-r+1 yes?

zepdrix (zepdrix):

I don't see how you're getting that +_+

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Ohhhh I left my bottom right entry as a 0, not as 0-lambda! rookie mistake D:: Ah yes, that helps to see it though. Thanks c:

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

awesome, cause attempting to type all that out sucked lol

zepdrix (zepdrix):

XD

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

ok, have fun :)
