OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):
oh I so missed the congruent lines
OpenStudy (anonymous):
45*sqrt(2)=63.64
OpenStudy (anonymous):
this is all it gave me, but i think the sides are all equal
OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):
so now, cool thing about the diagonal in a square, It is a bisector of the angles, so now, what type of triangle do you have?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
diagonal of a square with equal sides is a*sqrt(2). Since a=45 the answer is 45*sqrt(2)

It's nice to not have to memorize the formula, if you stay with me for 1 more minute, we can get that formula
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh so then it would be 63.64
OpenStudy (anonymous):
the little lines on the side of the square means that all the sides are equal
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yea i know that
OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):
I would mark that wrong personally but you can say the answer is approximately 63.64

why would it be wrong?
OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):
because the square root of 2 is irrational and should be left as is for an exact answer
OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):
also, they showed no work, so I wouldn't give credit there either
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok so can you please explain and show ur work so i can understand
OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):
ok, so what is the measure of the angles of a square?

45
OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):
a right angle is 45 degrees?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh no sorry right angle is 90 degrees
OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):
cool, ok so the nice thing about a square is that there is a special property with it's diagonal, the diagonal bisects the angles.
OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):
|dw:1416904584937:dw| Can you label what the bisected angle's measure is?

that means, it splits it into two equal parts
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i know there equal but dont know the measure, shouldnt it be 45
OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):
it is, because what is 90 divided by two?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
45
