An inverted square pyramid has a height equal to 24cm. It holds water to a depth of 18cm above its apex. Find the volume of its content if the top face has an area of 100cm^2

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well I'd find the volume of the largest pyramid... look at the ratio of the heights... 18 is 3/4 of 24.... so I would expect you can take the volume of the large pyramid and multiply it by the cube of the linear ratio

V = 800 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

337.5?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

thats the volume of the large pyramid and that seems to make sense as the volume of the small pyramid...
