can anyone please suggest a good topic for a short speech

It depends on what the short speech's purpose is. Do you want to tell people about something they need to know? Do you want to convince them to take action on something, or make a decision?

Hmm... Well, one topic that seems to be circulating is abortion, its been on the new quite frequently. Personally, I would write about that and be against abortion.
