Can someone explain the steps to solve this problem...if a four-engine jet accelerates down the runaway at 2m/s^2 and one of the jet engines fails, how much acceleration will the other three produce?

OpenStudy (surry99):

You can assume that each engine produces the same amount of thrust.

OpenStudy (mrnood):

F=ma The force changes (to 3/4 of the original) The mass doesn't change - so the acceleration is proportional to the force....
