Can someone help me with this question? Trapezoid TUVW is shown on the coordinate plane below: If trapezoid T'U'V'W' represents trapezoid TUVW reflected over the y-axis, the ordered pair of W' is ___________. (Note: You must include parentheses, a comma, and a space after the comma when typing the ordered pair.)

Thanks for the photo that clears it up, what they are saying is If you flip that shape over the Y axis (vertical line) what will the point be for W.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think that it would be 5, something I'm not sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5, 3 or 5,2

OpenStudy (jingle535):

Good job with the second part as 2, but the first part is not 5, that is were it is tricky, you flipped the shape right next to itself instead of flipping over the y axis, you need to have the boxes in between flipped over too. :)

so I think that it's 6, 2 & I think this because all i did was move it to the left

OpenStudy (jingle535):

Its better if you understand than using the guess and check srtategy ;) How this works is you move the point to the exact oppisite on the other side, for example if you had a point at (-2,3) if it was a reflection over the y axis it would become (2,3). :)

What would do you think the answer would be? I know I got the 2 right but the other part I'm not seeing it for some reason

OpenStudy (jingle535):

Sorry, my computer has been glitching but I switched browsers and it is now working. Now look at this and look how the other points reflect, then look at how W would reflect. I am not one who believes in giving out answers sorry.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Jingle535 Oh so in that case the answer is either 5, 2 or 2, 5 because u & v reflect on 2 & t reflects on 5 so that means that w would reflect on 5 as well.

OpenStudy (jingle535):

You are Soooo close! If the points at -2 reflect to 2 and the point at -5 reflects to 5, then W the point at -7 reflects to...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Jingle535 The only logical answer since u said it like that would be -7,2.

OpenStudy (jingle535):

Yes I saw your message, it is (7,2)!
