OpenStudy (surryyy):

Four coins are tossed at the same time. What is the probability that exactly 3 heads will appear? Answer 1/16 1/8 1/32 1/4

OpenStudy (mrnood):

there are 16 possible outcomes of 4 tosses (2^4) Write out a table: HHHH HHHT HHTH ........... Until you have all 16 outcomes Count how many have exactly 3 heads (call it n) odds are n/16

OpenStudy (surryyy):

is the answer 1/4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

HHHT HHTH HTHH THHH these are the outcomes out of 16

OpenStudy (mrnood):

that is not correct you need to list 16 options Some will be the same in essence - but write them in order: HHHH HHHT HHTH HHTT HTHH.... (see the sequence?)

OpenStudy (mrnood):

@tomorrow OK sorry - I see you have posted the answers with 3H Maybe it would be better to let the OP do this to better understand the combinations

OpenStudy (mrnood):

you could also reason this without listing: the tail will be in 1st, 2nd, 3rd OR 4th place so 4 options for1 tail.....as you said
