OpenStudy (jacobbenvenutty):

Being that I have played tennis multiple times I can tell you without a doubt that grass is among the four playing fields of tennis. (clay, hard, grass, and carpet courts.) grass courts are made specifically of rye grass and are cut very short. You said earlier *Compassionate that it would be harder for the ball to bounce on grass. You are most definitely correct, and that is the reason why many players even professional do not play well on these courts. At the same time though there are some that specialize in this type of playing field and are most generally great at serving since the low bounce gives them an advantage. The reason why at schools they generally use a wood material is because it is not only cheaper as they do not have to maintain it, but it is also easier for non professional players to use it. Sorry for the long explanation, but i felt it needed to be said. In the end the answer would be without a doubt "Wood."
