Hi everyone, I need help with the introduction paragraph of comparative contrast essay on life of pi and castaway!!@@

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

Please help me

OpenStudy (one098):

I've seen the movie Castaway and Life of Pi, but I only remember about the first one..

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

So what is that

OpenStudy (one098):

Castaway?

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

So can you please povide some some detail about that movie

OpenStudy (one098):

Okay, the movie is pretty much about a guy that works for FedEx and his co-worker. They have to deliver something, but to get there, they have to go on a FedEx plane. Something happens, that the plane crashes in the ocean and Chuck gets out safe and swims to an island near-by. I don't really remember what happened to the other guy. Anyways, he spends most of his life there. Since they were delivering some packages, he took some of them with him to the island. The day after the accident, he gets the packages and opens them. One of the ones he opened was a volleyball. He names it Wilson, like the brand. And lives with it on the island. It's Chucks "best friend" and he talks to it. After a few days pass, he builds this raft to get to out of the island, but there were reefs that wouldn't let him. So at the end, I don't know what happened but he gets home safe.

OpenStudy (one098):

@AndrewTheCookie ^ Wilson reminds me of you.

OpenStudy (andrewthecookie):

Wilison e.e

OpenStudy (andrewthecookie):

:O PI!!!

OpenStudy (one098):

lol yeah and actually I forgot to add that when he gets the volleyball, he finds ice skates, and so he cuts himself with it until he bleeds then draws a face on Wilson.

OpenStudy (andrewthecookie):

:o

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

ok thanks

OpenStudy (one098):

No problem!

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

Please help me with it

OpenStudy (one098):

with what?

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

With my essay

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

Introduction paragraph

OpenStudy (one098):

^ With everything I said up there...

OpenStudy (one098):

Are you supposed to read the book or watch the movie? @MTALHAHASSAN2

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

Yes I do

OpenStudy (one098):

Which one?

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

Like I have to watch a movie caste away and then I also have read a book life of pi

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

Then I have to compare them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why don't you just watch the movies? They are both extremely good movies, and thereafter you will have no problem comparing and contrasting the two. Easy as pie (no pun intended). :) No but really, you'll see how easy the assignment is if you just watch the movies. It might also help to take notes during the movies. For example, you might want to take note of the pros and cons each character must endure. I.e., Castaway: Con- main character must teach himself not only how to hunt for food, but how to cook the food he's caught. Pro- After much effort and no supplies, main character learns how to build a fire, thus providing him with heat, protection from any wild animals, a means in which to cook his food, and a possibility that someone passing by might see the smoke from the fire and thereafter come to his rescue. Con- Main character's tooth becomes infected and very painful in the back of his mouth, and with no medical supplies whatsoever, he must remove the dying tooth by force, on his own, or risk dying from infection of the mouth, throat, etc. Pro- After finding a volleyball, main character paints a face on it, gives it a name, and talks to it. Now considering the volleyball his only friend, main character has found a way to curb his loneliness. These are merely examples, of course. Obviously, you don't have to write such detailed notes as you watch the movies. If you just make a simple Pros and Cons list for each film, you will easily remember the content to which they pertain. Also, in doing so, you will pretty much have all the information you need right in front of you in order to execute a great Comparative Contrast essay without having to remember everything you just watched and trying to put it on paper. Just a thought! Best of luck to you! :)

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

Ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you MUST read Life of Pi rather than just view the film, there must be a significant part(s) in the book that the film does not portray. But how does it make sense to compare and contrast a book to a completely different movie, when said book was also made into a movie? Why not just compare and contrast the two movies? Unless Castaway was first a novel? Hmmm....

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

I already watch a movie life of pi

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

But I am confuse about how to start a essay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just a sidenote, in regards to the completed pros/cons list you might make, you will easily be able to compare and contrast the two subjects if you ask yourself questions like, "Were either character's lives at risk?" "Did either character suffer the possibility of severe illness?" "Which character experienced more or less loneliness?" "Is 'length of time passed' within the stories comparable?" "Did either character seem to lose hope at any point?" "What sorts of things might have each character done in order to keep their minds stable and their wits about them?" Hope this helps a bit, if at all, lol.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did you watch Castaway?

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

No I don't but I read the summary of this movie

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

I have a idea like what happen in this movie

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

Like if you could explain me what to write in introduction paragraph

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

I will be vey thankful to you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You must watch it. Trust me, you will not regret it. You must watch the movie in order to understand the tone and the gravity of the character's situation. Not to mention, the only way to compare and contrast two subjects, is if you actually have something to compare the other to. You watched Life of Pi, so you understand the tone of the movie and the trials/tribulations/personal achievements of the main character. If you want your essay to be good, you must give it a fair chance-thus by also watching Castaway

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

Ok sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That way you understand both sides in full, which will make for a thorough, excellent essay.

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

Like I start watching it a night but during movie I sleep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, I can help you with your Introduction, BUT only if you watch the other film first.

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

Thanks

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

Where you from?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What time is it where you are now?

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Anyway, I digress. Download the movie Castaway or go rent it from your local video rental shop, or borrow it from a friend. Or find it online. When is your essay due?

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):
