Viruses are not considered "alive" because they lack many of the properties that scientists associate with living organisms. Primarily, they lack the ability to reproduce without the aid of a host cell, and don't use the typical cell- division approach to replication.
because they dont have capacity to grow freely in the atmosphere..they require some medium to replicate and also they dont have certain membrane bound organells as they have some different structure..which are clearly different from the normal living organisms ...so they are not considered living Hope my answer and Prae answer helped you my friend..!! :-)
