the state governments. The AOC gave very little power to the federal government since it was adopted shortly following the Declaration of Independence and the American Revolution. Since the colonists had just "broken" away from England, they wanted to change some of the oppressive parts of England's government. Being a monarchy, the government had a TON of power not the people/colonies (like states)....so in an effort to make life better, more power was given to the State governments (for things like justice and law enforcement). BTW...AP U.S. History Student and that was my favorite unit...95 on the test.
