For the most part, most collaborators continued to live their lives without reprisal. Especially those of means, which ironically meant the more they collaborated, the more important they were to the Nazis, the more important they were in French society, and therefore got away with the most. Most retribution against collaborators came in the countryside, against really minor transgressors. (These people were generally executed.)
