OpenStudy (unanimoose):

.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Yes. I agree.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

I make sure all of my replies have no typos. So the max I had to delete and repost was twice.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

I already asked for this...

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Edit would also really help in the tutorial posts.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

^^ For real and people who make tutorials should be allowed to delete any comments.

OpenStudy (greencat):

^^^Ya. and what if you realize a typo after you already continued on your tutorial. You'ld have to delete multiple posts and restart. btw im sorry @TheSmartOne

sammixboo (sammixboo):

This has been requested many times before :P I would love to see it happen!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would love to see it too, until then I use my quoting extension to copy, make modifications, post, and delete the old post.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

@wio I use the copy extension. http://prntscr.com/5c76pj

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@confluxepic He knows what it looks like. He wrote it.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

The copy extension is gone. It just dissapeared. The case of the missing features.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, there is an edit button on the question you ask.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it does have an edit button it is on the bottom of the question it say's edit question. no need to medal please :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, they're talking about editing comments, not just questions.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^^ oh yeah that would be good too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah. We do need a edit button for comments. When I'm trying to explain equations in mathematics, I always mess something up and trying to explain it with the equations takes extremely long when you have to delete then re-type.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

I do agree big time! It does get irritating and annoying soo much. @e.mccormick shouldn't we start making this happen?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not for me. I never make typos. :P

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yana, I do not set the development priorities.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

>;P

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

http://prntscr.com/5d4xuv @babygirlaj @AnswerMyQuestions you also barely help.. lol You go in to the question and post a face :D

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Well you do help @AnswerMyQuestions but you kind of stopped... Its pretty slow...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

??? 0_o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay...?

OpenStudy (greencat):

tso. so true...

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

:)

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

I haven't been here for a while now, and I forgot there was none for replies. Most forums have that functionality, I see no reason for OpenStudy not to, it's kind of like a core feature. But again, it's not a big deal either way.

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Well, when you write an equation and you make a typo... Would be nice if you could change...

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Well, I also mostly agree and cheer for the "edit", but then no one would care to type the responses correctly in the first place. The absence of the "edit" develops at least small sense of responsibility, doesn't it?

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

One con of having an "edit" button is when users reply rude or offensive comments. If they will get reported they can change their comments easily. Unless, OS's system can store all the changes, then the 'edit' button will be really helpful and won't be a problem. I'm just sharing my opinion but I totally agree that it should be implemented.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

@data_lg2 Never thought of that.

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

What if it was only limited to latex?

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Yeah they said that in this... http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/5438674be4b092086b236e2d

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

But in Latex could post a anciful hi and then later edit is so that you answered it first and you can just cpy someone's work below and tweak it a bit.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Or have an ss limit. High users shouldn't really be offensive in any way and if they are then the changes should be stored. Maybe a drop down from the question that says, "See changes made."

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

you wouldn't believe how many high SS peple ca be rude.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

And the drop down should also store the timings the changes were made.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

And if they make this edit feature, pretty soon the people in the chats will want it there too.

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

I think an edit for latex only would be great You could use the copy tool too copy someone's equation/latex design and change it up to fit your needs

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

I think an edit for latex only would be great and also that you could use the copy tool too copy someone's equation/latex design and change it up to fit your needs :P

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

like that :P :)

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Not what I meant, but ok haha

OpenStudy (greencat):

lol tso "the people in the chats" like they live there...

OpenStudy (preetha):

Haha. Do people live in the chats?

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Yes. That's where some people picked as a home.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Eric well you somehow have a way and I know that:P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that sounds nice

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@Data_LG2 They already store it anyway, so I do not see what a huge deal it would be. Now, what would be more interesting would be user level access to edits. As in both edited questions and replies could be rolled back at the user level.

OpenStudy (greencat):

@e.mccormick Kindly, explain what you said.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Aah I see. That's good to hear then (: Well I think the users who have SS of 65+ should have the ability to edit the posts/comments/replies because that's the level where users started to have difficulties raising SS, which means that they already know how to use OS properly. Do you think OS admins can work on this little adjustment over a huge list of suggestions that they are reviewing? xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I hope they will ...

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

If they had an edit button then someone who replied before Eric could easily plagiarize.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Ah, but if you can review past edits, then people could easily see what was there before the edit.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Yeah. I suggested the drop down from the question that says view edits. You know how when you pass your mouse over the smartscore the three subscores drop down.

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

what do deleted comments look like to mods? does it only come up when if you look at a person's record or something? or is there actually a place on a question where a mod can see that there has been deleted comments?

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

^^^^ I always wondered the same thing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

someone requested edit, and the reply was "No, just delete and post again". I doubt this feature will be implemented.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You should close this...

OpenStudy (greencat):

Someone should answe sleepy's question first.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

i agree with this

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Is that like the official Jay Seal of Approval or something?

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

^ now there's a good latex idea

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Jaytex needs a edit button to fix the few mistakes on his tutorial! *trying not to fall down laughing* so i guess sure why not! XD

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

ooohhww... time to go make a official jay seal of approval! thanks for the idea sleepy and e.mc ill do that as soon as a finish the openstudy logo... or in 3 days... which ever comes first XD

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

So 3 days.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

probobly... the logo is probably gonna take months ;-; XD

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

i mean to do a detailed logo anyway... then modifieng it so it doest lag the site to death xD

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Yes, I know. e.mc already explained it (:

jaynator495 (jaynator495):
