Which of the numbers is a rational number? A) B) 11 C) 100 D) 143

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i picked C because it is the only one that can be reduced and turned into a fraction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A) is pi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all of the numbers are rational numersA rational number is a number that can be written as a ratio. That means it can be written as a fraction, in which both the numerator (the number on top) and the denominator (the number on the bottom) are whole numbers. The number 8 is a rational number because it can be written as the fraction 8/1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how im i supposed to answer this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where did you get this question from?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

usatestprep.com, why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tought you made the question up I cant see the answer for the answer choice for a check if you have a number there and is your name imani

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mo my name is frank, but thnks anyway

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pi is an irrational number. So A is irrational and B,C and D are rational.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean if you put A B and D into a calculator u cant turn it into a fraction so thats why i picked C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, not at all. A rational number is a number you can write as a ratio of two integers. a/b where a and be are integers. There is no way to write pi as a ratio of two integers, since the value of pi does not repeat. So pi is irrational and the other three numbers are rational. So answers B,C and D are correct.
