what is the solution to the system? Use a graph y=-3x+2 y=-3x+4

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Use a graphing calculator like this one https://www.desmos.com/calculator to graph both equations

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

wherever the two lines cross is where the solution will be

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know how to do any of this its my last question on the test and then i pass

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no one ever bothered to explain it to me

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

sorry I can't help with tests

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its open book i lost my book tho i need help not the answer

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

when you click the link, do you see a blank xy axis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i tried the its is not one of the multi choice answers

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what do you mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the graph shows parellel lines from side to side that is not one of the answers

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

do parallel lines ever cross or intersect?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Question 20 of 20 5.0 Points What is the solution of the system? Use a graph. y = –3x + 2 y = –3x + 4 A. (0, 4) B. (0, 2) C. infinitely many solutions D. no solutions

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so because they never intersect, there are no solutions you need the two lines to intersect to have a solution

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the intersection point is a solution no intersections ---> no solutions

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

notice how y = -3x+2 has a slope of -3 also, y = -3x+4 has a slope of -3 as well the two equal slopes (and different y intercepts) tell us we have parallel lines

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you :)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome
