Find the value of y so that the line passing through (2, 6) and (1, y) has a slope of 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have the equation \[-3=\frac{ 5-y }{ 7-6 }\] I just don't know how to solve it :/

first of all \(\color{blue}{welcome :) to :) open :) study :)}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks :)

Nnesha (nnesha):

so slope intercept form equation is y = mx + b where m is slope which is always with x and b is y-intercept

Nnesha (nnesha):

they gave you slope you have x and y value so first you have to solve for b |dw:1417390496176:dw|
