Solve for x. -ax + 3b > 5 x > the quantity 3 times b minus 5 all over negative a x > the quantity 5 minus 3 times b all over negative a x < the quantity 3 times b plus 5 all over negative a x < the quantity negative 3 times b plus 5 all over negative a

@dan815

OpenStudy (aripotta):

so we wanna get x by itself. what do we do first?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract b

OpenStudy (aripotta):

yea so now we have -ax > 5 - 3b what now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add a to the other side

OpenStudy (aripotta):

no. the -ax is multiplication and the opposite of multiplication is division. so we wanna divide both sides by -a. and once we do that, the the > flips and becomes < so x < (5 - 3b)/-a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok

OpenStudy (aripotta):

so the answer is d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you
